Best Game Development Podcasts

The Past few days I was looking for some good Gamedev & Gamedesign podcasts to listen on my daily commute. So I though why not share my findings with the rest of the community. Here’s the list in no particular order of podcasts I’ve listen at least twice.

The Game Developer’s Radio - Some great guests on this podcast! For example Daniel Cook, the creator of Triple Town. I also really appreciate that they post the links they mentions during the podcast on their website

Brainy Gamer - This podcast focus on the game design point of view of game designer and players. There’s also some great guests here, from Jonathan Blow ( no need to introduce him ) to Manveer Heir, senior Designer at Bioware you will get great game design insights listening to this podcast. The comments section are also very good. The only downside is that it seems there won’t be any more episodes, the last one is from the 30 august 2011, what a pity.

Industry Insight - Very high quality interviews. There’s also some tip&tricks and tutorial videos but I haven’t watched them. I recommend Jesse Schell Keynote on Information Flow: the Secret to Studio Structure and the interview with Edmund Mcmillen.

Another Castle - Interviews with Professionals game design. However it’s not updated very often ( once per month ) but high quality content.

IndieGames Podcast - Fun Interviews with Indie Game Developers. I really like IndiesGames website because you can find so much postmortem and good informations on the indie game industry!

The Game Engine - Very Technical podcast. The statement in their tag line, Game Development, by Devs, for Devs is TRUE :)

Game Audio Podcast - a Podcast that focus on well, Audio in games. I highly recommend the episode with Darren Korb who did the soundtrack of Bastion.

Infinite Ammo - Their podcast is LOOOOONG, 2 hours in general but are totally worth it!

As you can see, most of them are “interview” podcast. I was especially looking for these because I wanted to learn as much as possible from other people experience and hopefully reproduce their success or not makes their mistakes ;)

The other podcasts I enjoy listening to are not game development related but are very inspirational or marketing oriented.

Mixergy - Love how Andrew ( the host ) get all the juicy information from his guests. The podcasts is focused on Startups and web entrepreneurship.

Fondation - Video Podcast by Kevin Rose who interview “rockstars” from the Startup world. The video quality always amaze me and the the information he get from his guest is very interesting.

By the way, I use Instacast to listen to the podcast and it’s an awesome apps, definitely worth the $1.99!
